Groundhog may say its spring - but I am enjoying the cooler weather. Have a chocolate mint (herb) added to my collection and it is getting big enough I will soon have to transplant it. Also planted some tomato seeds, and now have seedlings. Have bulbs planted also - lilies, dutch iris and amaryllis. Soon will have strawberry plants. One thing at a time.
Just a short note. See you later.

Starting over again --- left during the harvest season and coming back during the planting season --- think that is interesting --- and there is a basho going on. Many changes have happened and are still happening.
Think I will plan a new garden for now --- a bigger one. Finding a lot of new plants --- heirlooms mainly. Maybe a bigger garden than the last one.
Later......

This is the first time in a long time that I have been able to post in my journal. Too much happening right now.
The Aki Basho started several days ago and I haven't missed a day yet. Has anyone else noticed how much more respect is happening in the dohyo this basho? Hope it continues.
The Little Computer Geek, Futeno, is not having a good basho so far. Maybe his new computer program has him thinking too much. Sounds similar to what the Olympic athletes use.
Little Fish Bowl Dude, Tooyama, is learning that he lives in a fish bowl when he is on the computer.
!!!Ganbatte Kotomitsuki!!!
That's all for tonight.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words - so I have some here. They are from the Nagoya Basho that just ended, and yes I did add some words.
The first collage is what I consider good Sumo and is what I like about Sumo.
( Honorable Sumo. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu (Thank You) Asashoryu, Tochiazuma, Kaio, Kotomitsuki, Kotooshu, Kakizoe, Wakanosato, Futeno, Kyokutenho, Iwakiyama, Kaiho, and the other Rikishi who showed everyone what good Sumo is. )
The second collage is what I consider BAD Sumo and should be banned from the Dohyo. Saw too much of this the past basho. Hopefully the Sumo Association will wake up and put a stop to this before it brings any further disgrace to Sumo.
( Bad Sumo )
Guess that's all til later.

Okay - the Basho is over - for now. ??What do I think of it??? Guess this is my rant. Not happy at all with the rikishi that strut like arrogant peacocks (Roho even when he has lost); rikishi that shove other rikishi after a bout (Hakurozan) and give haughty looks; plus not bowing after a bout, win or lose; and not bowing toward the dohyo when leaving. The younger rikishi and sumotori are expected to bow before and after a bout. What are the higher rikishi showing them - that this is only for lower ranks. (And I don't mean a nod of the head either). Yes there are some who do bow often (Asashoryu, Kyokutenho and Takamisakari come to mind, and Kotooshu seems to be learning to bow.) But by the time you reach Makuuchi it should be automatic if nothing else.
Yes, there are rules regarding behavior and what can be done when they are not followed. Think it is time to start enforcing these rules. (And I am talking about what happens in the dohyo, not what goes on behind the scenes. That is another matter to be addressed.) ??Don't they realize they live in a fish bowl???
Also, I am not a fan of the slapping "techniques" (I do not consider it a technique at all. But it seems to be the only way some people can "fight"). So, I do not understand why you would give an award to someone who not only overly uses it, but who obviously goes for the face and throat (Kokkai). I thought it was frowned upon to go for the face and throat areas. Then why are we giving an award to someone who does?? (Yes, I know Toyazakura is as bad as Kokkai, but he did not get an award.)
Fighting spirit should go to someone like Iwakiyama. Not only did he come back to fight and win with a shoulder injury. He showed care and compassion for his injured fighting partner. This shows true fighting spirit and good sumo. (He had 9-3-3). (He is not one of my favorite rikishi, but I may have to change that). And what about Tamaasuka (9-6). It is his first time in Makuuchi Division. (Ganbatte Tamaasuka!!!) Then there is Takamisakari (10-5). And who can forget his suprised look when he found out he won over Futeno. Also, Wakanosato (11-4). He is not an ozeki yet.
Ozumo (sumo) is more than just the fighting. So when you become a "sumo wrestler", you are adopting a way of life. If this way of life is not to your liking, then go join another form of wrestling. Maybe the women of Japan should start a group supporting and promoting traditional sumo, and let the women and men of the world who understand this to join them.
Now that the rant is over - I did find a picture of Kotohikari who is Makushita and has a 5-2 record this basho. He sort of reminds me of a little laughing Budda.
( Kotohikari )
Congratulations to Kotooshu and Futeno for their awards.
And one more question - ???Am I the only one who noticed Kotooshu's little butt wiggle????
Oh well -- enough for now.

!!Ganbatte Kotomitsuki!! !!Ganbatte!! Just keep going -- Let the Sumo Sense flow. Yeah!!!
Feel sorry for Iwakiyama. That shoulder looks painful.
Found a new dude -- sort of reminds me of a little buddah. He has a way to go yet, but not doing bad. Have to get a picture up of Kotohikari.
Have to run for now. Be back.

I think Kotomitsuki needs to get a blog with a web cam or have a cup of saki or something to keep his mind busy. Maybe then he can worry about something else and let his sumo sense take over. Then before he knew it, he would have won all the bouts he needs plus!!!!!
Chiyotaikai is learning a new way to fight. Tough thing to do, but he can do it.
Tamaasuka is doing good for the new guy.
Katayama is doing okay. This samurai has some tough bouts ahead and needs to concentrate.
Iwakiyama is doing something right. Keep it up!!!!
!!Ganbatte Kotomitsuki!!! Ganbatte Katayama and Tamaasuka!!
Got a Po car. It came in an egg. Its a Morning Musume thing. Sort of like Strawberry Pie and Mini Moni.
Guess that's enough for tonight. Bye...

Did you see it??? Chiyotaikai does know Sumo!! Whoa!! Something beside the slapping technique (Tsuppari) he usually uses. Hope he shows off more...
!!Yea Kotomitsuki!!
In case you haven't seen them:
( Tamaasuka's interview picture )
( Wakanosato's 'Best Dressed' picture )
Oh --- and yes, I know there was a big upset. Little Computer Geek, Futeno, did it. Now to see how he acts. Can he make it back down to earth and concentrate??
There are still some manners missing in the dohyo. Hopefully they will return soon.
Be back tomorrow. This is fun.

The computer is working again - yeah!! And in time for the basho.
Heard Kotomitsuki has been practicing with Asashoryu - Good for him - actually for both. !!!Ganbatte Kotomitsuki!!!
Hope to see Hayateumi - the Little Samurai - in the next basho. May he have a speedy recovery.
Katayama is still pleasing the crowds. For a Picturebook Samurai he has an interesting stretch!
Then there is the new dude -
( Tamaasuka )
Actually I like his interview picture better. Sort of like Wakanosato, who looks better in his "best dressed" picture.
Okay - time to go do some cheering and see who remembers their manners.
Sayonara for now....

Been looking at some pictures. Guess I have to admit Futeno is right, he does look like a little dumpling. He is a cute little computer geek.
Katayama looks more like a Samurai -- straight from the picture books. If he has the honorable mannerisms to go with the looks, I'll bet he has the girls beating down his door.
Seems like lately, some of the polite manners are missing from the dohyo. Too many of the rikishi are acting ARROGANT -- too big for their britches. They need to take a step back and be HUMBLE -- thankful for their position. Maybe they'll get back to that soon.

!!!Yea!!!!! Katayama made his kachi koshi. Hurrah!!! He may be the new guy, but I knew he'd be good. Now all "little dumpling" has to do is keiko, keiko, keiko and he'll make his way to the top. A little practice with Asashoryu would be good for both.
Two more matches to go this basho. Ganbatte!!!! Katayama!!!
YES ... I like Sumo!!!
